What is The Canadian Food Championships?Be part of Team Canada at the World Food Championships

Events Edmonton has partnered with the World Food Championships (WFC) to host one exclusive qualifying event in 2017 for Canada. The Canadian Food Championships is a year long search for Canada’s best cooks – from Amateur and Professional.  The search will reach new levels during the multi-day competition from July 21-23 to determine who will be part of Team Canada at the World Food Championships.

Competitors can compete in one of 7 different categories in Edmonton, Alberta:

  1. Bacon
  2. Burger
  3. Dessert
  4. Steak
  5. Sandwich
  6. Seafood
  7. Chicken (NEW)

BBQ is also a category of the Canadian Food Championships. Through the Canadian BBQ Society, the top two Eastern Canada Teams and the top two Western Canada Teams (Manitoba and westward)  will be crowned Canadian Champions and gain entry into the World Food Championships.

Chili winners will be automatically qualified through the Kleefeld Honey Festival, held in Kleefeld, Manitoba.

There is over $50,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs! The Grand Prize winner in each category will receive a golden ticket to the World Food Championships — November 2017 in Orange Beach, Alabama, a $1,500 travel voucher and a $2,500 cash prize.
