News Releases from Canadian Food ChampionshipsFollow the road to the Team Canada Selection for World Food Championships

November 16, 2017 Edmonton, AB. For the third year in a row, Canadians were well represented at the recent World Food Championships, with six teams progressing into their top ten rounds and three placing in the top five.

This year, the Canadian Food Championships sent 17 qualifying teams to compete at the World Food Championships in Orange Beach, Alabama, an event with hundreds of competitors from around the world all competing for the $100,000 grand prize.

“We’re so happy with how the Team Canada performed, and grateful to be able to give Canadians the chance to compete at the WFC,” said Paul Lucas, Canadian Food Championships. “Team Canada did us proud once again.”

“CFC provides a platform for anyone with a passion for cooking—from the home cook to the professional chef—the opportunity to compete at an international level,” Milena Santoro, Events Edmonton board member and Chair of the Canadian Food Championships said. “Once again, Team Canada made us proud.  The competitors were supportive of each other and as a team, placed in each category. Well done Team Canada!”
