Edmonton, AB—Events Edmonton is excited to announce the results of the third Canadian Food Championships (CFC). Sixty competitors brought their best in Canada’s biggest food fight July 21-23, and the winners will be heading to Alabama in November to compete in the World Food Championships (WFC), the world’s largest food sport event, with a grand prize of $100,000.
First place in each of the seven categories at CFC won $2,500 and a $1,500 travel voucher to get them to Alabama, where they are automatically qualified to compete in WFC. Second place winners in each category also qualified for WFC and took home $1,000. Third place winners received $500 and will qualify for WFC if any of the first- or second-place winners choose not to compete.
“The action and the talent at the Canadian Food Championships was incredible” Paul Lucas, Events Edmonton’s general manager said. “It is such a thrill to watch so many talented cooks with such different backgrounds, competing in this food fight. We are proud of how the event continues to grow—for competitors and for food sport in Canada.”
"This event continues to showcase great Canadian culinary talent," added Mike McCloud, President/CEO of WFC. "This year was no exception. Every single dish was on par with what we see at the World Food Championships. I'm looking forward to seeing what these cooks bring in November. "
This year’s winners reigned from Edmonton, Blue Mountains, Ontario, Grand Forks and Port Moody, BC.
